If the Shoe Doesn't Fit, Don't Wear It
Surely in your entire lifetime of shoe shopping you have heard people say things like "oh, it'll stretch" or "as you wear them they'll get more comfortable.
We are here to tell you that this philosophy will get you nothing but a closet full of shoes you never wear.
When you buy a pair of shoes, they should fit you when you buy them. Period. End of Story. If the shoe is uncomfortable or tight or pinching you or too high to walk in then guess what, that's not going to change.
So often fashionistas forsake comfort for fashion, but there is nothing less sexy than a woman walking in a pair of shoes that are too big, too small, ouching her or too high for her to handle.
Here are some tips to take with you on your next shoe shopping excursion:
1. Go shoe shopping at the end of the day when your feet are the most 'swollen' and can be a true test for comfort in the real world. If a shoe feels good after you've been standing on your feet all day or running around town then you're already ahead of the game.
2. When you try on shoes make sure to walk on the hard floor not just the carpeted area of the shoe department. Real women don't walk on carpet all day.
3. Man-made shoes have far less give than leather shoes. And while you may be doing good for the planet, just be sure to double-check that the fit is well contoured to your foot.
4. Don't make a habit of buying shoes at stores with no return policy. Any smart shoe shopper knows that you need to take the shoes home and walk around your house in them for an hour or so as a triple-checking procedure to make sure they fit great.
Keep in mind that no shoe, no matter how fabulous and sexy it is or makes your legs look, will catch any attention as it sits in your closet collecting dust because you thought they'd get more comfortable. Comfort fits and if the shoe is comfortable then it fits you.
But if the shoe doesn't fit then for goodness sake don't wear it!
